3. Summary of Our Privacy Practices

NotesKimi is a note-taking extension. Its purpose is to help you save and manage notes while browsing.
You can use NotesKimi without an account in guest mode. In guest mode, your notes and settings are stored locally on your device.
If you choose to sign in, NotesKimi uses Google Firebase to authenticate your account and optionally sync your notes across devices.
NotesKimi may store page URL, domain, and page title when you associate a note with a webpage.
We do not sell your personal data.
We do not use your data for advertising or behavioral profiling.
We do not collect browsing history for analytics or advertising purposes.
Before using the Extension, you are shown a privacy disclosure and asked to agree before the Extension becomes fully active.

4. Information We Collect

4.1 Notes and User Content

When you use NotesKimi, we process information that you voluntarily create or upload, including:

Notes imported by you through supported import features

You control the content of your notes. NotesKimi does not create note content on your behalf without your action.

When you create or associate notes with webpages, NotesKimi may store:

This information is used only to help you organize notes by page and to provide page-specific note features, such as viewing notes related to the page you are currently visiting.

NotesKimi does not automatically collect or store the full content of webpages you visit unless you explicitly choose to save that information as part of a note.

Google Sign-In is handled through Chrome’s identity API and Firebase Authentication.

NotesKimi does not store your password locally on your device.

Account information is used only for authentication, account identification, and optional cloud synchronization.

7. Guest Mode and Cloud Sync

Guest Mode

You may use NotesKimi without creating an account. In guest mode:

Your notes and settings are stored locally on your device
No cloud account is required
Your data remains on your device unless you later choose to sign in

Cloud Sync

Cloud synchronization is optional and requires sign-in. If you sign in:

Your notes and account-related data may be stored in Google Firebase Firestore
Authentication is handled by Firebase Authentication
Cloud sync allows you to access your notes across devices linked to the same account
You may stop cloud sync by signing out of your account

8. Website and Page Access

NotesKimi requests access to webpages you visit so it can:

Display a floating note button on supported pages
Open the NotesKimi sidebar
Enable page-specific note creation and organization
Read the active tab’s URL and title when needed to associate a note with a page

NotesKimi does not read, collect, or transmit full webpage content unless you explicitly save that information as part of a note.

The Extension does not inject note-taking UI on Chrome Web Store pages.

9. Chrome Permissions We Request

NotesKimi requests the following Chrome permissions to provide its features:

Local Storage

If you sign in and enable sync, your notes and account-related information may be stored in Firebase Firestore. Data is transmitted over HTTPS.

Security Measures

We use reasonable safeguards to protect your information, including:

Firebase security rules restricting access to account owners
Access controls limiting cloud data to the authenticated user

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. While we work to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

15. Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as necessary to provide the Extension and its features.

Your data is retained until:

You delete individual notes within the Extension
You delete your account or request account deletion
You uninstall the Extension, which removes locally stored data from your device

You may delete notes at any time from within the Extension.
